His parents are subsistence farmers who grow maize and cassava, but their meager and uncertain income is not sufficient to provide adequately for the necessities of life for the family. They live in a small house which lacks basic facilities of water and electricity. Francis has always been in good health since birth. He likes playing with toys and helps his mother with simple house chores.
