Gbassay Hassan lives with his parents and siblings in a small village situated in the far north of Sierra Leone. The family dwell in a mud brick house of three bed rooms that is roofed with old zinc. He sleeps with his parent on a locally made bed with mud and sticks that is stuffed with dry grass and without proper beddings. His parents are local farmers who grow upland rice, millet, groundnut, beans and cassava as food at home and sell some to get money with an annual income of US $ 273 that cannot support the basic needs of the family.His parent goes to farm very early in the morning without food in their stomach, just to fine money so that they can afford the needs of Gbassay and siblings in terms of clothing, medication and food, thus the mother provide single meal a day. He is attending the community primary school in his village. Gbassay likes to play football and healthy.
