Simaila is a smart girl who lives with her mother and sister in a small community located in the southeastern part of Mozambique. Simaila and her family are living bad moments because they depend on family agriculture which is menaced by droughts. They grow maize, cassava and groundnuts. They would like to have Secondary Schools in the community so that their children would never need to study very far. Simaila attends classes in a primary school about 3 km away. Her favorite subject is Portuguese. In future, she would like to be a teacher. She has fairly good health condition and she makes good progress at school. She often helps her family with some chores around the house. She sweeps the yard and cleans the house. On her spare time, she plays with coconut shells. Simaila and her family live in a self-built house with reed walls, a thatched roof and dirt floors. They use rudimentary sanitary facilities. Simaila participates in the program where she will receive support in the areas of health, education, nutrition and recreation.
