Joan is a kind and friendly young girl staying with her mother after the separation of her parents due to marital misunderstandings, they live an old mud walled house with packed dirt floor and straw thatched roof in the central part of Uganda. Despite being small scale farmers, the family also depends on an income from the mother working as a hair dresser where she is paid a commission depending on customers serviced. The family always finds it hard to access basic needs like clothing, scholastics and health. They earn an average income of US 20 dollars a month. This is often not enough to cater for the needs of the child and family as yields expected are always affected by the limited space for cultivation registering low yields which has made the family to suffer constant hunger and poor diet which leaves Joan at risk of being malnourished and encountering stunted growth. She studies so hard at school despite school fees challenges and performs best in English with a goal of becoming a lawyer. Your kind sponsorship for her will be a big blessing.
