Pius is a humble and quiet boy who enjoys playing football with his brothers and friends while at home. He is the last born among three brothers, two sisters, a niece and nephew. They live in a house made of mud walls with thatched grass as its roof, with a packed dirt floor. Pius lives in a family with many siblings which is difficult to provide their basic needs like education since their father is weak and cannot dig leaving all the responsibilities on the mother and the elder siblings who do casual labour in peoples gardens to provide for the family. This makes them to have only one meal a day which is often not enough. They have a small piece of land which is over cultivated, to provide food for the family and part of it also sold to cater for other needs. Their home is some 5kms away from the nearby school making it hard for Pius to enrol for school.
