Luis is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his mother, Vanderlania, and with a sister, in a rural community in the interior of the state of Ceara. Their simple home has brick walls, ceramic tile floors and a clay-tiled roof. It is rented and has a tiny bathroom. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his children. Vanderlania takes some odd jobs as an unskilled laborer when available (she is unemployed at this time) and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Luis is sweet, polite and intelligent. He likes playing with toy cars in the company of other kids his age. He is fond of animals, especially dogs and cats. Luis is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends nursery school and loves painting and coloring. Through your support Luis and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, education and nutrition.
