Eric is a kind, playful boy living with both parents and six siblings in North Eastern Uganda. He has started his education journey at the kindergarten. He feels good when he is allowed to scribble drawings and writings in a book yet his parents feel it is a waste of resources. They reside in grass thatched huts made of mud walls and wattle, with no provision of windows. The floors are regularly smeared with cow dung to reduce on dust. The dust makes Eric often to cough and have flu. The parents use herbal medicines for his treatment due to inadequate funds to meet his medication. Erics family has no reliable source of income apart from cultivating on three acre pieces of land to get food. The situation is worsened by low crop yield which is a result of water logging and prolonged dry spells. The family survives on less than US 10 dollars per month.
