Imasha is a bright young girl living in the Monaragala District of Sri Lanka with her parents and younger brother. She has a deep love for reading, which brings her joy and helps her escape the struggles of daily life. Imasha attends a junior secondary school, located 1.5km from home, and walks there alone every day. Her family’s annual income is just $800, making it difficult to meet basic needs. Her father is not working at the moment, while her mother works as a seasonal wage worker in farming. Though they live in their own house, it is incomplete, with a cement floor, brick walls, and a clay-tiled roof. They get water from a neighbors well and have electricity and toilet facilities. The family faces many challenges, struggling to provide Imasha with proper nutrition and a good education. Their dreams of a brighter future are clouded by financial hardship. A sponsor could offer Imasha the opportunity for better education and a brighter future, free from the burdens that weigh heavily on her family.
