Pawin or Min is a lively and cheerful boy. He was born into an abjectly needy family. Farming is the way his family makes a living. The net income was very little after deducting the cultivation costs, fertilizer, and seeds including family debts; and there might be nothing left for the family. During an off-farm season his father and mother would work as agricultural workers to feed the family but the employment is not that often; sometimes they would go gathering wildlings to cook for family and also sell the surplus of this stuff to supplement the family income.
