Alexia is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her mother, Aline, and with one brother, in a small rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his children. Aline tries to earn a living by cleaning houses when available; her low income, however, is far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of her family. Alexia is affectionate and cheerful. She loves playing house and with dolls in the company of other girls her age. Alexia is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends kindergarten and loves painting and coloring. She says that she will be a police officer when she grows up. The family is needy and through your support Alexia and her family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
