Meet Marlis. She is a joyful, caring and gentle girl who has much fun playing with dolls. She grows up in the city of Oruro, western Bolivia, which is famous for its carnival. She attends a local school and likes her music classes. She dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She lives with her parents and 3 siblings in a small house made of adobe walls and corrugated metal roof. Her father is a construction worker, while her mother takes care of the household chores. They make around US $ 205.00 per month. The income that the family receives is minimal and insufficient to meet all of their basic family needs. Poverty is a daily reality that most Bolivian children face throughout their childhood, as they do not have enough resources to thrive. The story of this child can follow the same pattern if we do not do something to change it.
