Heitor is a very young Brazilian boy who lives with his grandmother; Rita, mother, Gildelene, and with a brother, in a municipality which belongs to the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, state of Ceara. Their simple home has brick walls, rough cement floors and a clay-tiled roof. It is self-built and has a tiny bathroom. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his children. Gildelene is unemployed at this time. The family receives a very small family allowance from the federal government, which is far from enough to meet basic needs. Heitor is a sweet and active baby boy. He crawls all over the floor and stands on his feet without support for a little while. He takes bottles as well as solid foods like corn pap and vegetable soup. He likes playing with colorful and noisy toys. Heitor is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet.
