Kethely is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents, Jivanilson and Miriam, and with two brothers, in a slum area on the outskirts of the city of Belo Horizonte. Their simple home has brick walls, rough cement floors and a concrete slab ceiling. It is self-built and has a tiny bathroom. Jivanilson is unemployed at this time. Miriam works as a saleswoman (doing odd jobs); her low income, however, is far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of her family. Kethely is shy and affectionate. She helps her mom by organizing her own belongings. In her spare time, she usually plays fashion parade. Kethely is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends a local public school and her favorite subject is math. Her wish is to be a model when she grows up. Through your support Kethely and her family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, education and nutrition.
