Mathias grows up in La Paz, nestled in the Andes Mountains at an elevation of over 3,600 meters above sea level. He is a friendly, joyful and caring boy who has much fun playing football. He attends primary school. His favorite class is science. He dreams of becoming an engineer. This Spanish-speaking boy lives with his mother, brother and other relatives in a small house made of adobe walls and corrugated metal roof. His mother is the sole provider. She works in a store. The family makes around US $ 143.00 per month. The income that the family receives is minimal and insufficient to meet all of their basic family needs. Poverty is a daily reality that most Bolivian children face throughout their childhood, as they do not have enough resources to thrive. The story of this child can follow the same pattern if we do not do something to change it.
