Matias grows up in La Paz, nestled in the Andes Mountains at an elevation of over 3,600 meters above sea level. He is a joyful, lively and sweet boy who has much fun playing with cars. He attends preschool. His favorite class is music. He dreams of becoming a firefighter. This Spanish-speaking boy lives with his parents and 2 siblings in a small house made of adobe walls and corrugated metal roof. His father earns a living as a messenger, while his mother is a street vendor. The family makes around US $ 328.00 per month. The income that the family receives is minimal and insufficient to meet all of their basic family needs. Poverty is a daily reality that most Bolivian children face throughout their childhood, as they do not have enough resources to thrive. The story of this child can follow the same pattern if we do not do something to change it.
