Yakuba lives with his parents in a small farming community in Sierra Leone. His mother is a backyard vegetable gardener and the father is a small scale farmer. The family lives in a three bedroom adobe house of mud bricks with zinc roof. Yakuba is attending school in his village with little support from his parents. The proceeds from their work are not enough to take care of the family. He is very smart and in the evening he studies with his friends. He is very curious to know things around him. He sleeps with his grandmother on a locally made wooden bed with a local mattress on it. His best friend is Amadu Marah. He like him because he is always helpful to him. He like playing football with his peers and his best meal is foo-foo, a locally made food prepared from cassava. With sponsorship, Yakuba can achieve his dream in future.
