Sethmi Nethsara, a young girl from Monaragala District, Sri Lanka, lives in a peaceful, rural, green, and quiet area. She lives with her parents and sister in their own house, though it is still incomplete. The house has brick walls, a clay floor, and a roof made of clay tiles. Sethmi helps her mother with household tasks, such as cleaning the house and gathering firewood, doing her part to support the family. In her free time, her favorite hobby is making playhouses, where she uses her imagination to create little worlds. Sethmi attends preschool, located 2 km away, and walks there every day with her mother. Her father works as a seasonal farmer, earning about $480 annually, which is not enough to cover all their needs. The family struggles to provide three meals a day, healthy food, and to meet the costs of education. They get water from a common well, and they have both a toilet and electricity. Despite the challenges, Sethmi’s family hopes for a sponsor who can help lift them out of their difficulties and offer a better future for Sethmi and her sister.
