Susan lives with her parents and five brothers in a remote community which is always affected by water logging, prolonged dry spells and cattle rustlers in North Eastern Uganda. These conditions disrupt their community development yet they solely depend on subsistence farming for a living. Susan attends school at the kindergarten and her favourite subject is literacy. They sleep in grass thatched huts made of mud walls, wattle and packed dirt floor. This house has no provision of windows, running water nor electricity. They use a smoky locally made candle for lighting which cause health challenges for the family. Their family average income does not exceed US 10 dollars per months. Living in a remote agricultural area, Susan is able to enjoy the outdoors and a natural environment for her growth while she has fun playing. With friendship and support they hope and work for better living conditions. Her cheerful and joyous personality gives her family hopes for the future and brings them together.
