Ashini Vihansa, a young girl from Monaragala District, Sri Lanka, lives with her parents and brother in their own home, which remains incomplete. The house has brick and clay walls, a clay floor, and a roof made of asbestos sheets. Despite the challenges, Ashini finds joy in drawing pictures, using her creativity to express herself in her free time. Ashini attends preschool, located 4 km away, and every day, she rides with her mother on a bicycle to get there. The family, however, faces many struggles. Her father and mother both work as seasonal farmers, earning a combined annual income of just $800. This income is barely enough to cover their basic needs, including three meals a day, providing healthy food, and saving for the children’s education expenses. They rely on a well for water and have access to both electricity and a toilet facility, but the financial pressure is constant. The family is in desperate need of a sponsor who can help improve their living conditions, ensure better education for Ashini, and help lift them out of their struggles.
