Joel lives in North Eastern Uganda with his grandfather and mother. He was born out of wedlock. He is a humble and friendly boy. His family live in small grass thatched huts made of mud, packed dirt, and wattle walls. His favorite game is playing with toy cars made of old wires and sandals. He also helps his family with sweeping the compound. Joel attends school at the kindergarten. His family purely depends on subsistence farming which forms the family major livelihood. However, the area is very much affected by unpredictable weather conditions like prolonged dry spell and infertile soil. The mother who is the sole provider does not have a stable source of income. The family monthly income is less than US10 dollars which is not enough to cater for all their needs especially clothing and health.
