Kaio is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Frederico and Natalia, and with an uncle, in a slum area on the outskirts of the city of Belo Horizonte. Their simple home has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a roof of asbestos cement sheets. It is self-built and has a simple bathroom. Electricity and running water are available. Frederico works as a general helper in a local auto repair shop and Filipe (uncle) does odd jobs as a vendor when available; the combined income, however, is far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of the family. Kaio is calm and cheerful. He likes playing with balls and dinosaur action figures. He has a dog he is fond of. Kaio is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Kaio and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
