Tayna is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her mother, Adriana, in a municipality which belongs to the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, state of Ceara. Their simple home has brick walls, ceramic tile floors and a clay-tiled roof. It is lent to them and has a tiny bathroom. Adriana receives some aid from her ex-husband and the family receives a very small family allowance from the federal government; the combined income, however, is far from enough to meet basic needs. Tayna is shy, calm and affectionate. She helps her mom by running small errands and filling the bottles with water. Her favorite pastimes include drawing and painting. Tayna has been diagnosed as suffering from mild mental retardation, activity and attention disorders and specific disorders in the development of school skills (she is under treatment with specialists and takes controlling medicines). She attends a local public school and her favorite subject is History. Her wish is to be a drawer when she grows up. Your support will make a difference in the life of this needy child.
