Umaru is a brilliant young boy who lives with his parents and siblings in a farming community. Access to water in their village is very difficult as a result of the topography. They lack electricity supply and use chinese lamps at home. Umaru sleeps with his siblings on a local bed with dry grass with poor beddings. The family dwells in a house built with mud blocks and roofed with zinc. The parents depend on farming for home consumption and as source of income. They always experience poor harvest due to the damage caused by cattle and wild fire on their crops and the use of local tools. This reduces their income and does not help to security food. Their annual income of US$314.00 helps to provide single meal a day. Umaru is attending the Roman Catholic Primary school in the village and enjoys teaching his friends how to read and tell stories. He loves to play football. With sponsorship, Umaru will live and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
