Nikola is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Thiago and Luzia, and with a sister, in a small rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Thiago takes some odd jobs when available (he is unemployed at this time) and the family receives a very small family allowance from the federal government. Nikola is cheerful, affectionate and intelligent. He likes playing ball and with toy cars in the company of other kids his age. Nikola is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends nursery school and loves painting and coloring. The family is needy and through your support Nikola and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
