Norjahir is simply yet fondly called Jahir. He does his best in school, eagerly learning his counting and English speaking lessens. In his free time, he enjoys listening to a neighbor play guitar, and his diligent nature shows as he helps with house chores and in farm-harvesting work. He is fond of grey and black, and he would like to become a fire fighter when he grows up! He lives with his family in their small home made of bamboo and old galvanized sheets, situated about 30 minutes away from the health center and school. They fetch water from a deep well, use firewood for cooking, have a simple toilet and access to minimal electricity. And through farming, earning around $35 a month, they do their best to sustain their needs as they also raise native livestock and grow corn to augment their daily necessities.
