Nicolas is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Gildomar and Liliane, and with a younger sister, on the outskirts of a small town about 100 miles south of the city of Fortaleza. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Gildomar works as a general helper in the stock department of a local grocery store and his earnings are far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of his family. Nicolas is lively, cheerful and intelligent. He helps his mom by filling the bottles with water. His favorite pastimes include playing tag and hide-and-seek. Nicolas is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends a local public primary school and his favorite subject is Portuguese. He says that he will be an architect when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Nicolas and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
