Fransciscar is a cheerful girl from Turkana County in Northern Kenya. She lives with her parents, two sisters and one brother. They live in a palm-thatched house with mud walls, which leaks during the rainy seasons, subject the child to cold nights, and suffer from respiratory diseases. They live in a communal land. The family draws water from a borehole and water is not safe for human consumption since the water is contaminated and this predisposes the child to waterborne diseases. The family depends on weaving of mats, baskets and trays, which the mother does. To supplement their livelihood, the father works as a casual laborer in the village where they live. The annual income they get is less than US $360 and this is not enough to cater for the family basic needs. As a result, her father came to the office looking for assistance. Fransciscar is in school. She likes playing with her locally made dolls. She also likes making new friends. Your sponsorship will not only brighten this child’s life but will have sown a seed of hope and love that will steer this child’s life to greater heights.
