Nathan is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his mother, Cristiane, in a rural community located in the Jequitinhonha Valley, northeastern Minas Gerais, which is a poor and arid region. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his child. Cristiane receives a very small family allowance from the federal government, which is far from enough to meet basic needs. Nathan is friendly and cheerful. He helps his mom by feeding the domestic animals. He likes playing with his simple dinosaur action figure and with toy cars along with other kids his age. He has a dog he is fond of. Nathan is considered to have good health. He attends a local public school and his favorite subject is Portuguese. He says that he will be an archeologist when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Nathan and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
