Thananon or Hongtae a miserable boy was born into an abjectly needy family that lacks various opportunities in many aspects. His father and mother broke up, and he lives with his maternal grandfather and grandmother in a house with a leaking roof and unfinished construction. His mother works as a wage earner, she went to work in another province to feed the family and would come home once in a long while; she is not in good health, suffering from Thyroid. His grandfather and grandmother grow cassava for a living but the farmland they work on is the property of the Land Reform Department with no title deeds and their farming is dependent upon the force of nature. The main source of income comes from his mother.
