John is a brave boy who is living with his parents in a family house that is roofed with old zinc in a rural community, in the north of Sierra Leone. The house does not have electricity and clean water to drink. They fetch their water in an open well which dries up during the months of March to late June. John sleeps with his parents on a local bed using an old mosquito net. His parents engage on farming, they grow rice, cassava and ground nut. The mother also sells cooking ingredients at home whiles the father also attends high school in the provincial headquarter town from Monday to Friday. Their combined annual income hardly meets the family basic needs. They depend on two meals a day. John loves playing with local toys. He is healthy and doing fine. With sponsorship John can live in a healthy environment where he will be educated and make a better future.
