Maria is a very young Brazilian girl who lives with her mother, Nataly; maternal grandmother, Maria, and with an uncle, in a small rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Nataly receives some aid from the father of her child, which is far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of the family. Maria is sweet and docile. She also appears to be a bright child. She is being breastfed and also takes some fruit juice. Bright colored and noisy toys attract her attention most. Maria is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Maria and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
