Debula comes from a remote farming village in North Eastern Uganda. She is a calm and friendly girl. They sleep in grass thatched huts and use Kerosene for lighting at night, using locally made smoky candles which cause health challenges. Debula has started her education journey with drawing and counting numbers as her favorite subjects. Her family derives a living through subsistence farming. They own 2 acres of land on which they grow traditional crops like maize, beans, millet, cassava tuber and groundnuts. The cultivation is done twice a year and whenever it is harvest time, the family is able to get some income to provide basic needs like clothing and education materials for the children. Unfortunately, the family income is too low as a result of low yields and cannot sustain all the family basic needs throughout the year. Because of this, the family engages in causal labour for survival and earn less than US 10 dollars per month on average. Your kind gesture to sponsor her will go a long way in ensuring that her future shines.
