Pedro is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Cicero and Maria, and with a younger sister, in a rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Cicero works as a herdsman (doing odd jobs) and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government; the total income, however, is hardly enough to meet basic needs. Pedro is active and affectionate. He likes playing with toy cars and building blocks in the company of other kids his age. Pedro is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends nursery school and loves painting and coloring. The family is needy and through your support Pedro and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
