Khaira, fondly called Kai-Kai, was raised by her loving grandmother. The two of them live humbly in a small house, situated near the village road. They have access to electricity and a communal water faucet. Her grandmother sells rice cakes or kakanin in school and in the neighborhood in the hopes of saving enough money for Kai-Kais education. She generates about $68.00 a month, which is still hardly enough given the high cost of commodities. So, she ensures to maximize their small backyard and plant vegetables like eggplants, string beads and tomatoes they can rely on where their budget is tight. Kai-Kai is in primary level. She loves to study hard as she wants to make her grandmother proud. It is her only way for now to give back to all her sacrifices to raise her. At home, she ensures to do most of the house chores like cleaning the house, doing the laundry, watering the plants and even cooking. She never wants to add burdens to her hardworking grandmother. Kai-Kai loves rice cakes. She is a smart, talented, and obedient child. Your support can provide her with hope to keep going in life!
