Natasha comes from a backward tribal family, residing in a small village in Jharkhand with her parents. The village has no proper health, water, and sanitation facilities. Her father is engaged as an agricultural laborer earning approximately USD 240 per year. The meager income is not sufficient to take care of the family expenses and education. The mother is a resourceful housewife but unable to make ends meet despite her best efforts. Eager to give this child the chance of a better future through proper care, and education, the humble parent appealed to this project for assistance. Natasha is attending pre-school and she is learning to count numbers in Hindi, the national language. She enjoys playing with dolls. She has two brothers. Her health is normal. She is tonsured as per local customs.
