Shaluwa is a resilient young girl who lives with her grandmother in a modest two room house. Her mother is a housewife, and the family does not engage in farming as they do not own any land. They rely on their family income as a builder, which is now limited. The family struggles financially, with a monthly income of about 80 US dollar, which is barely sufficient to cover their basic needs. Her grandmother is battling cancer and tries to supplement their income through peasant farming, but the returns from farming are still inadequate to provide more than one meal a day. They often rely on local herbs to treat common illnesses like malaria. Despite these challenges, Shaluwa remains a bright and joyful child. She enjoys singing and engaging in playful activities with her peers, such as playing with toys and skipping rope. Her grandmother dreams of Shaluwa becoming a nurse to help others in their community. Shaluwa also assists her grandmother with light household chores, such as sweeping their small compound. Your support would greatly improve the quality of her life.
