Shiv fondly called Dasthrath belongs to a backward family and lives with his parents in a faraway tribal village located in Jharkhand. He has three brothers and one sister. They share a mud hut that lacks basic facilities. His father works long and exhausting hours as an agricultural laborer, but his annual salary of approximately USD 240 is insufficient to support the family and pay for education, household expenses, and other necessities. The mother is a resourceful housewife who tries to do whatever is at hand, but there is hardly any improvement in their living conditions. Finally, the parents appealed to this project for assistance for a better future for this child. Shiv attends primary school and Hindi, the national language is his favorite subject.
