Maria Eugenia is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her grandmother, Geani; father, Fernando, and with an aunt, in a small community in the state of Ceara. Their simple home has brick walls, ceramic tile floors and a clay-tiled roof. It is self-built and has a tiny bathroom. Water is carried from an artesian well. The mother lives and works in another area. Fernando works as a production assistant in a local factory and his earnings are far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of his family. Maria Eugenia is intelligent, playful and talkative. She helps her grandma by putting away items like toys and shoes. She loves playing house and with dolls in the company of other girls her age. She has a dog she is passionately fond of. Maria Eugenia is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends nursery school and loves painting and coloring. Through your support Maria and her family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, education and nutrition.
