Douglas is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Jose and Paula, and with one younger brother, in a small rural village located in the interior of the state of Ceara, which is a hot and remote region. Their simple home, which is lent to them, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Jose works as a day laborer in agriculture and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Douglas is playful, shy and tranquil. He runs small errands for his mom. He likes playing tag, ball games, and with toy cars in the company of other kids his age. Douglas is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends a local public elementary school and his favorite subject is math. His wish is to be a driver when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Douglas and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
