This little toddler is Anudhi. Her favourite pastime is to play. Big surprise there right? Anudhi loves to play with dolls and make believe that she is all grown up and is a loving mother like her own stay-at-home mother. Anudhi’s father is a farmer. He is the sole breadwinner of the family and he generates and annual income of about USD254. Farming is still labor intensive in Sri Lanka and the work is long and hard but the income generated is quite low. Anudhi’s family of three lives in poverty. Anudhi and her parents live in a house that belongs to a relative and is situated in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. The family does not have pipe-borne water supply or a properly constructed toilet on their property and cannot afford to acquire these amenities either. Life is a struggle when living in poverty. Even meeting the day-to-day expenses is quite challenging and Anudhi’s family needs help to stay afloat in these difficult times Even the smallest intervention will go a long way.
