Saikouba is a smart and healthy-looking boy. He and the parents are living in a small house built out of mud blocks and the sleeping room floor is plastered with cement. The house is roofed with corrugated iron sheets. He and family are in a small farming village. He sleeps with the mother on the sponge on the bed. The parents main sources of income are on seasonal farming. They also do vegetable gardening in the community garden and their annual income put together is often too low to enable them take care of his needs and the rest of the family. Saikouba enjoys the grandfather’s fun and that makes him stay long with him.
