Maithus is active young boy who lives with his grandmother, he is the first born of the family. They live in small permanent house made of bricks on walls, old iron sheets and parked dirt floor. The family practices small scale farming and they mainly grow Sweet Potatoes, Cassava, Banana plant, and Maize. The harvest is however unpredictable due to poor weather conditions fetching the family a monthly average income of US 12 dollars. Their major source of water is a borehole while kerosene is their source of lighting at night. Maithus is attending school located near his home and his favourite subjects are Reading charts and shading. He is full of dreams and wishes to become a doctor. At home, he helps to fetch water using small plastic containers and sweeping the compound. He enjoys playing football and driving toy cars, the old grandmother hardly affords basic needs for the family and sometimes has to cope up with one meal per day.
