Caroline is a cheerful young girl who lives with her mother and grand mother in Luangwa district of Zambia. Carolines parents divorced leaving her mother as one who fends for her welfare. Caroline likes to play with mud dolls with her friends. Carolines mother is a subsistence farmer who grows maize, beans and pumpkins at a small scale mainly for their own consumption. Unfortunately, Luangwa is an area where the yields are sometimes affected by the droughts or floods depending on the weather conditions in each particular farming season. In the quest to carter for their basic needs, Carolines mother sells off some of their agricultural produce and their anuual income is not more than $350.
