Sergio is a very smart boy who lives in the southeastern part of Mozambique. He lives with his parents and brother. Sergio and his family live in a self-built house with reed walls, a thatched roof and dirt floor. They do not have electricity. They use primitive a kerosene lamps to get light at night. They use rudimentary sanitary facilities. They do not have running water. They use well water for drinking and cooking their meals. Sergio is attending primary school and his favorite subject is Portuguese. In future, he would like to be a driver. He helps his family with the chores around the house. He sweeps the yard and washes the dishes. His parents are subsistence farmers and they grow some crops, such as: cassava and maize. The food is not enough because the production depends on seasons. Sometimes there is rain and sometimes not. This woman has no means to afford fertilizers in order to produce a lot. Sergio participates in the program where he will receive support in the areas of health, education, nutrition and recreation.
