Radassa is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents, Weener and Rosangela, and with a brother, in a rural community about 300 miles from the city of Fortaleza. Their simple home, which is self-built, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Weener takes some odd jobs when available (he is unemployed at this time) and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Radassa is affectionate, intelligent and organized. She helps her mom by putting away items like toys and dishes. She loves playing house and with dolls in the company of other girls her age. Radassa is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends a local public school where she is making excellent progress; she loves arts. She says that she will be a doctor when she grows up. The family is needy and through your support Radassa and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
