Mariama is a cheerful young girl who hails from Kailahun, Eastern Sierra Leone. She lives with her parents and two female siblings. She is a school going child, attending the community primary school in class one. Her mother too is a school going pupil while her father works as community health worker. The parents depend on small scale farming as primary source of their livelihood. The income they get per annum is less than US $ 185. Their annual income is not enough to cater for all the family needs. They live in a house built with mud sticks that has five rooms and one store, and roofed with old zinc.
