Miguel is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his mother, Lizandra; grandmother, Sandra, and with an aunt, in a slum area on the outskirts of a city located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his child. Lizandra and Sandra are unemployed at this time. Leandra (aunt) works as a saleswoman and earns low wages. Miguel is lively, observant and playful. He runs small errands for his mom. He likes playing ball and with toy cars in the company of other kids his age. He has a dog he is fond of. Miguel is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Miguel and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
