Osman grows in a family of local farmers in a village situated in the far north of Sierra Leone. He is handsome and bold. He lives with his parents, siblings, grandparents and other close family members. The family dwells in a mud house of four bed rooms. It is roofed with old zinc and lacks good sanitation. The father is a farmer, growing cassava, peanut and rice and the mother is a backyard gardner who also doubles as a trader to help take care of the house. The income of US$300.00 the family gets per annum is not enough to cater for the basic needs of the family. They share only a single meal a day leaving other needs unsatisfied. Osman is attending the community primary school. At home, he study the alphabets and count figures using stones and sticks with the help of his elder cousin. When free, he likes dancing in groups with her peers and loves to play skipping rope. Osman is healthy and he is a very interesting child to live with.
