Meet Maureen a social and playful young girl. She is the only child to her parents, and they live with both parents in Northern Uganda. Her parents are small scale farmers earning very little of about 4 US dollars monthly. This income is too little to provide a decent meal, housing and basic education for Maureen. The family eat one late unbalanced meal a day, sometimes just surviving on vegetables. The family has no reliable source of income because they farm on land that they hire from the community members which is usually very small. They have no land of their own for farming leaving them with no option but to practice subsistence farming purely for home consumption. Maureen is not yet enrolled in any form of education because she is still young, her parents worry that she is growing, and time will come when she has to join school, yet they are unable to attend to her school needs.
