Mariama is a quiet, cheerful and active girl. She lives with both parents in a small village in the eastern part of the Sierra Leone, very far from the city. They share a family house with other close relatives. Her parents are farmer, her mother does petty trading and backyard gardening to support the family. The annual income of the family is estimated at US $ 198 which the mother manages to derive from their crops and petty trading. Mariama enjoys having fun with her locally made toys or playing with the other children in their community. She is healthy and playful girl and likes to sing songs and play with toys.
