Thomas Marie lives with his grand parents in a mud brick house roofed with old zinc that leaks when it rains heavily. Mother attends high school in the capital city. Father is a bike rider in the Easter province of the country. He sleeps with grand mom on the floor spreading dry grass and local mat with thick cloth for covering. He sometimes suffers from cold and rash due to the poor bedding condition. The grand parent practice rice farming growing upland rice and cassava for food. They also burn charcoal for sale as source of income. Their combined annual income of US$ 374.00 is insufficient to cater for the family basic needs. Thomas has not started attending school due to his age. He spends more time with his friends while the grand mom is busy with her daily chores. With sponsorship Thomas Marie will live a better life to be a well educated and confidence child who will bring a positive and lasting change in the community.
